SAF V Survey Report: Adjustment of Army Children to Deployment Separations
Abstract: Deployment separation is not only potentially stressful for army families but this stress can also impact back upon the soldier parent who's deployed. This paper examines how well children are adjusting to deployment and separation demands, and how well the Army's Well-being Initiative is supporting these adjustments. Child adjustment is examined from the perspective of how well their family is able to acquire the relational and organisational assets they need to help them adapt to the stresses of separations. The paper analyses findings from the latest Survey of Army Families - SAF V - which was conducted between September 2004 and January 2005.
