Are MSK injuries a hidden threat to the Canadian Armed Forces?

Abstract: In comparison with the focus in the media on the mental health needs of Canada's fighting forces, which are and should remain a top priority, non-battle-related injuries can be described as a “hidden epidemic” that plagues modern armies and affects operational readiness. The most frequently observed non-battle injuries are Musculo-skeletal (MSK) injuries, as reported by Canadian sources and by Canada's allies. Not only are MSK injuries a hindrance to the health and wellbeing of Canada's forces, they are a significant cost driver in CAF healthcare expenditures.
