Family Force: Supporting families of veterans with a substance use problem (FVSUs)
Abstract: Whilst evidence is strong that some veterans can experience difficulties with substance use after leaving the Armed Forces, exploratory research by the University of York and Adfam uncovered very little practical support, research or policy interest in FVSUs. This mixed methods study found that help for FVSUs is currently insufficient. Participants in the research felt that FVSUs’ needs are not being dealt with or addressed. Furthermore, the need for a specific and targeted response was recommended by a majority of our research participants.
