Improving Research and Initiatives to Support Veterans and their Families
Abstract: This highlight article discusses that people join the armed forces for a multidure of reasons and discusses how best to support the varied group of Veterans and their families. After a general call for abstracts, the conference organising committee selected over 40 papers for either podium or poster presentation. Unfortunately, COVID-19 resulted in the conference being cancelled, but to ensure the content was given the best medium to be shared led to a discussion with the BMJ Military Health to design and publish this international special issue. This edition contains 16 international articles that provide a broad overview of factors impacting on the armed forces community, and reflect the diversity and complexity of the health and social care issues. There is an intentional variety of articles, with the range including an overview of new initiatives and the impact they are intending to achieve.
