Abstract:This reflective essay underscores the often-overlooked experiences of families of military, Veteran, and public safety personnel (MVP). The author, who has lived through multiple roles—child of a Veteran, military spouse, caregiver, and mother of a first responder—argues that the phrase “…and families” should not be a mere afterthought but a full statement acknowledging the unique identity, sacrifices, and needs of MVP families.
