Abstract: This study examined how trauma has been known to have a significant impact on military personnel both in the past and present. The literature review showed that there needs to be future research on the veteran population receiving treatment because many of the issues they experience go unreported. The research was from a qualitative approach to examine the comorbidity of PTSD and BPD in active-duty and veteran personnel. The researcher interviewed six licensed mental health professionals in the Menifee, Murrieta, Temecula, and San Diego areas and utilized semi-structured interviews to learn which theoretical approaches worked best for treating this population. Their responses were audio recorded and transcribed to help formulate categories and themes. The categories and themes were explained in greater detail, and the participants noted similar responses. This research revealed that borderline personality symptoms are manifested in veterans diagnosed with PTSD. It was helpful that the clinicians who were interviewed provided the best theoretical approaches used with military personnel and veterans.
