Abstract: An increasing percentage of the active-duty and reserve uniformed services force are women, and they are the fastest growing population in the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). Additionally, the VHA is one of the largest providers of gender-affirming care in the United States. Asking about a patient's military service and being aware of the unique health and reproductive health care needs of this population are critically important. Members of these populations may be at increased risk for a variety of health-related issues, including intimate partner violence, a history of military sexual trauma, and other health conditions. This Committee Statement highlights the unique reproductive and other health needs of and special considerations for women and gender-diverse current and former active-duty and reserve uniform service members.
