Factors affecting bicultural stress surrounding mental health care for immigrant and generational American Veterans

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate how bicultural stress is affected by generational status, military characteristics, care seeking behavior and mental health status for Veterans seeking mental health services. The study employed a quantitative, web-based survey (n = 220) using a cross-sectional design where a regression analysis was performed for data analysis. Notably, there was a significant interaction between deployment status and immigration status on bicultural stress. Future research included focusing on pre-deployment stressors.
