Abstract: This editorial discusses how the US veteran population are at a higher risk of mortality from sarcoidosis compared to other populations. Overall, the study provides a comprehensive examination of sarcoidosis mortality rates in US veterans and highlights trends in mortality rates, risk factors, and disparities in this group. Rising mortality rates, persistent yet lesser racial disparities, and service branch-related risks underscore the need for tailored interventions to alleviate these risks. In addition, the study by Seedahmed et al3 emphasizes the need for continued research into the environmental and psychosocial factors that impact sarcoidosis outcomes in veterans and, by extension, the general population. By addressing those factors, health care providers in the United States and internationally can provide better and directed support with the aim of improving outcomes for patients affected by sarcoidosis.
