Abstract: The article focuses on the medical readiness challenges faced by the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), particularly concerning undetected Deployment-Limiting Medical Conditions (DLMCs) among service members. It highlights that only a small percentage of young Americans are eligible and willing to enlist, which exacerbates the military's readiness issues. The article discusses a proactive clinical pharmacy practice implemented by a pharmacy officer to identify and manage DLMCs using prescription and population health data, aiming to enhance medical readiness and reduce the risk of nondeployable soldiers. The findings suggest that undetected DLMCs pose a significant threat to national security and that addressing these issues through improved data analytics and clinical pharmacy integration could lead to better outcomes and cost savings for the military healthcare system.
