Summary: This paper is an initial perspective, summarising the first phase of investigation into future trends and their impact on the Armed Forces Community in 2031 and beyond - with a focus on transition. It begins with a summary of the macro societal shifts that are taking place. It goes on to look at some national shifts likely to take place over the next decade, considers some trends affecting the Armed Forces Community as a whole, then focuses on those that may impact the charity sector that has developed around it. It does not attempt to provide a full analysis of the trends. This will occur during the next two phases of the project.
