Longer-Term Employment Outcomes of Ex-Service Personnel
Summary: This report details a study that explores how a person’s time in Regular service and the support received during transition impacts their longer-term employment outcomes. It also explores the longer-term employment outcomes for ex-Service personnel, the barriers and facilitators to successful and sustainable employment. Lastly, it explores how ‘successful employment’ is defined and the wider measures of this, what it means in relation to ex-Service personnel, and if there is a more comprehensive metric for measuring employment success in future. It uses a mixed method approach, it uses a literature review, interviews, an online survey and telephone interviews to collate data. Key findings cover the impact of Time in Service and Resettlement Support, how to maintain employment, adjust to employment and perciieved barriers and facilitators to sustainable employment and looks at how successful employment can be defined.
