Parkinson's disease and risk of melanoma in United States Veterans: A Veterans Affairs Cancer Registry retrospective cohort study

Abstract:Epidemiologic studies suggest an association between Parkinson's disease (PD) and melanoma, although mechanisms remain unclear. Shared immune dysregulation, oxidative stress, α-synuclein aggregation, and genetic risk factors suggest biologic overlap. We evaluated whether United States veterans with PD are more likely to develop melanoma.
